Funds available for young women in Central America

September 13th, 2011- Groups of young women from Central America may receive up to $5,000 in funding through FCAM’s open call for proposals, which seeks to provide monetary and technical resources to women's organizations working to promote their human rights.

The invitation is now open and will close on October 30th, 2011. The application process is part of our organizational strategies to strengthen women's organizations in the region, especially emerging and grassroots organizations.

“Groups of young women in the region organized and led by women between 16 and 30 years of age may submit proposals for projects that promote physical and emotional integrity of women, issues of economic justice, as well as the strengthening of participation and leadership,” explained Lina Morales, Program Officer at FCAM.

Within this grantmaking process, priority will be given to groups located in remote districts of the capital and rural areas, as well as groups working in new issues, themes considered controversial, and those with little access to other sources of funding. FCAM also prioritizes groups working with indigenous women, Afro-Caribbean, disabled, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, sex workers, women with HIV, and domestic and maquila workers.

Excluded are production projects,  projects for income generation and/or rendering of services, individual proposals, religious institutions, and organizations tied to political parties or government institutions.
