¡Por primera vez en dos países: Donatón por una Vida sin Violencia

Se parte del cambio, únete a la campaña!We closed our third fundraising campaign “Donatón for a Life without Violence” with much enthusiasm and pride in what the Fund, our grantees and our sponsors accomplished in promoting a woman’s right to live free from violence. This was our third campaign in Nicaragua and first in Guatemala. Twenty seven grantees participated in the campaign, using their creative energy to host different fundraising activities so that other groups of young women can also access the funds so crucial to transforming their ideas into action. We were especially impressed by the groups in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua, who despite the ravages of Hurricane Felix late last year joined the campaign and raised funds and awareness for women’s rights.

Our campaign was full of creative and fun activities! We held a raffle for a free round-trip plane ticket to the United States, courtesy of American Airlines. We placed piggy banks in local businesses throughout Nicaragua and Guatemala, sold t-shirts, and approached donors for their individual support. We raised a total of $129,000 in monetary and in-kind donations and sponsorships. This accomplishment represents the growth of our campaign over the past three years, not only in raising funds but also in raising the visibility of the Central American Women’s Fund and our grantee partners working to defend and promote women’s rights in 6 countries throughout the region.

Creative Campaigning

Se parte del cambio, únete a la campaña!Neighborhood visits, piggy banks, key chains, a march for International Women’s Day, local media interviews and lunches for a right to live free from violence.  These are just some of the innovative fundraising activities organized by members of the Indigenous Women’s Association of Santa Maria Xalapan, Guatemala.

In Juigalpa, Nicaragua, the group Women of Amerrisque organized a public event in commemoration of March 8th, International Women’s Day. In the city’s bustling central park, the Women of Amerrisque gathered to tell the community about their work and the importance of the “Donatón for a Life Without Violence” campaign. Festive activities set the stage for the group to request donations from passersby, while another set of volunteers went door to door to raise donations.

¡El Central American Women’s Fund obtiene su personería jurídica en los Estados Unidos!

Se parte del cambio, únete a la campaña!The “Dance-a-thon for a Life without Violence”, held this year on March 8th, International Women’s Day, is the signature event of our campaign. This year, the Fund collaborated once again with the renowned instructors of Studio Danza Ilusiones, and more than 125 people danced for 4 straight hours at one of downtown Managua’s busiest shopping malls.  Hundreds of spectators gathered to watch, mesmerized by the lively music and upbeat dancing.  Many then made donations, putting their support for the “Donatón for a Life Without Violence” campaign and the Fund’s many grantees into action!
